Everything from injuries, chronic pain, stress and anxiety, poor sleep, digestive and urinary problems, infertility, headaches and migraines, acne and skin conditions, weight loss and much more can be treated with acupuncture and Chinese medicine. All of our practitioners are licensed acupuncturists meaning that they have completed over 3000 hours of training in traditional Oriental medicine, acupuncture, and Chinese herbology from a nationally accredited university in addition to having obtained national board certification in acupuncture and herbal medicine. This strong education and understanding about how and why acupuncture and medicinal herbs works sets us apart from other healthcare practitioners such as chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists and doctors who are allowed to practice these treatments or “dry needling”, under current practice laws. Often these practitioners will only have anywhere from a weekend course to 300 hours of instruction before they begin practicing. Getting treatments from a licensed acupuncturist is not only safer, but their understanding of the traditional Chinese medical system and how it works will ensure better results and health for you.
Most people find that acupuncture is very relaxing and many people will fall asleep or take a short nap during treatments. When the body is relaxed, our parasympathetic nervous system is engaged, this is the rest and digest mode of the body that allows for healing and regeneration of cells and tissues throughout the body. We encourage this relaxation through the use of comfortable, private treatment rooms, soft music, and adjustable lighting and temperature. Modern medical research has demonstrated that treatments produce a wide range of physiological effects including affecting the areas of the brain related to pain, decreasing inflammation, affecting the central nervous system, regulating blood sugar and metabolism, improving mood and sleep and much more. New research is being conducted and released daily demonstrating the effectiveness of this healthcare system.
Chinese medicine utilizes a unique diagnostic approach that allows for virtually any condition to be analyzed and placed into a pattern that then corresponds to an appropriate treatment method encompassing acupuncture, medicinal herbs, dietary and lifestyle options and other therapies. The more of these modalities that are used, the faster and better results a person will see.
A general course of treatment is traditionally thought to range from 10-12 treatments, however, we find that most people will begin to see good lasting results after 2-4 treatments. Most issues see some improvement after the first treatment, but lasting results may require more treatments. We want to give you the tools to achieve the health and wellness that you want to achieve. The majority of our patients leave the office feeling relaxed and happy and looking forward to their next treatment. One of our greatest goals is to always make sure that you feel better on the way out than you did when you came into the office and we are happy to say that we are very successful in this regard.
